About the Artist

My name is Chrissy — I’m a proud Aboriginal woman, a mother of four beautiful kids (and one watching over us from the Dreaming), and the artist behind Mob & Sea.

I grew up in Hawks Nest, deep on Worimi Country, where my family has lived for generations. The bush and the sea shaped me — they’re in my blood and in my work. My family has strong connections to Country in Tasmania, with mob still living on Nuenonne land. I also have Gomeroi roots, and family and kinship ties to the Worimi, Biripi, and Wonnarua Nations.

By day, I’m a high school teacher working at a behavioural school, and I hold a Master of Indigenous Education. I care deeply about supporting mob, especially our young people. Giving back to community is at the heart of everything I do — through my art, my teaching, and my everyday life.

When I’m not painting, you’ll find me wandering barefoot along the beach or getting lost in the bush — listening, learning, and honouring Country.
